I now am in a house where my music room is upstairs between the kids bedrooms and you can hear my amp downstairs when playing at heat I consider to be a reasonable volume.
I don't necessarily want to buy a small watt amp. I love my toanz and am buying new 100 watter next month. Besides, the lunchbox amps probably cost what a decent attenuator would.
I guess an attenuator would help?
What's a good one? I'd like to not spend a fortune if possible. Is $300 a reasonable limit?

I used to use a Hot Plate but there are better options out there now. Just depends on how much you're willing to shell out for one.

Saw a YouTube demo for the Dr. Z one. Looked cool. There really do seem to be a shit ton of them on the market.

I still think a Hot Plate is good enough if you're looking for slight attenuation. If you wanna tame a 100w amp right down to play at night while the baby's asleep volume, even the most expensive one's will affect your tone.

Check out the weber attenuators. I have a mini mass and it works great. They are relatively inexpensive too.

The only one I've used personally wouldn't be of any help to the OP ~ it's the Swart Night Light, and it's fantastic, but only works with amps of about 22 watts or lower power. I used it with my Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr. (stoopid loud amp, btw!) with great results & very little tone loss, even down to whisper volumes. I've used it to crank my 20 watt Koch Studiotone with my 2 year old sleeping in the next room, no problem. But it could never handle a 100 watt amp, so, useless post is useless.
