...the color scheme from when I was 10 years old and though black backgrounds were badass.
Please, for the love of god, make it neutral.

yeah, i like the background but we need to have colors that flow with it. the blue and white clashes with the grey in the background.

This doesn't work. Nor does the background image. I know its a guitar forum, but make a nice neutral big background and then a different color, but also neutral "forum" space. It will make it usable instead of looking like Geocities circa 1996.
But without the warez or sketchy scanned pron.

hey, the internet circa 96 was the shit. Well yeah, compared to nothing. And while it being the wild west was awesome, it also led to horrible eye bleed from shitily designed websites.

and it ain't easy plotting a color scheme for a forum. i had to do it for multiple forums back in the day, it's the reason i don't have hair anymore.

I'm colorblind, so I'm not best suited to do it, but red text over imagines = hell. In fact, the whole background image = hell. Its WAYYYY too busy. I'd rather just have a nice gray or something.

Color schemes are not hard. Grey background, white test boxes, black letters, light blue boarders.

and the black background with white text is easier to read at night in the dark in bed.

Always make a copy of the default scheme first. Then edit the copy. There are pre-fab schemes available on the Proboards forums (support.proboards.com). You have to create another account. That's the way Proboards works. Different board = different account. There's also some pretty cool scripts on there to make life easier for mods and admins.
For what it's worth, the black background and light gray text is hard for me to read. I grew up with monochrome monitors and lauded the new operating system named Windows and with VGA monitors. /getthefuckoffmylawnyoudamnkidswithyourscootersandskateboards
